I work with all types of wallpaper; non-woven, clay coated, type II vinyl, fabric, grasscloth, foil, hand-blocked styles, and more. What I don’t work with is the newly fashioned peel-and-stick paper. It’s cheap, labor intensive, and extremely unpredictable.

I love to advise designers and contractors and home owners on type of paper that are best for the rooms they are looking to wallpaper, but I don’t select wallpaper or order it. I DO take measurements of the room and will calculate the quantity of paper that one will need to order based on the final wallpaper selection. I love to do this as part of my no cost initial site visit because it is important to me that enough paper is ordered the first time. When more rolls are ordered at a later time, because not enough were ordered by those not familiar with the process or are using an online wallpaper calculator, the chances of wallpaper being printed from a different batch is high. When then happens, the overall pattern is not different but there is usually a subtle shift in color from the printing process.
There are amazing resources and wallpaper companies out there, if you’re having trouble finding a good one I’d be happy to provide a list of my favorites.

I design my labor estimates by project and understand that you are paying for my skills and everything I’ve learned from past experiences, not for my time. I care deeply about my work and the clients that I work with and open communication, before, during, and after the project completion is always top priority.

Wallpaper companies often oversimplify the installation instructions, leading to hours spent installing wallpaper that turns out uneven, patched, mismatched, wrinkled, and bubbly — so it ends up looking like you did it yourself. That might be okay for the person glancing around a room, but do you want to live with that day in and day out? Or do you want to have a spot in your home that makes you smile every time you walk by it?

You can expect that I will always prime the walls with an acrylic primer prior to installation (or contract a professional painter to do so). This prepares the walls for wallpaper and aids in the removal process is and when it is time for the wallpaper to come down. I will always want to come see the space in person to assess the size, get measurements for you to know how much paper to order, what sort of equipment I may need and if another person is necessary to assist in the installation. Keep in mind, small rooms, like powder rooms, often take as much time as large rooms because there is less space to navigate a ladder and more fixtures to work around. Wrapping around windows and doors; especially here in California where the architecture incorporates bull nose or rounded corners along the windows and doors, takes time and patience and also some creative measures to accommodate for taking a 2-dimensional paper and making it fit a 3-dimensional space.
